The Data Governance Study Group interviewed experts on the actual status of commercial use of profiling, mainly in Internet advertising, etc., and held discussions with researchers, journalists, and other experts. As a result, the study group concluded that a certain level of profiling regulation is necessary in Japan. In conjunction with the triennial review of the Personal Data Protection Law, which has the greatest affinity for regulating profiling, the study group has compiled a set of recommendations.
