The "digital future" is a new concept based on the declaration adopted at the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) Digital Ministerial Conference in December 2022. It is based on a declaration adopted at the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) Digital Ministerial Conference in December 2022. The declaration expresses a commitment to not only the development and promotion of the digital economy, but also the pursuit of people's happiness based on the concept of "well-being" (a satisfying living environment), and to tackle overall issues including inequality, discrimination, war, and global warming through digital transformation.

Today, companies, countries, and societies are rushing to digital transformation. On the other hand, when the expected results are not achieved due to failures in the transformation process or the occurrence of technical problems, people begin to have doubts about digital transformation. At the same time, the rapid development of new technologies may have already rendered traditional techniques and methods obsolete. In this situation, a great deal of effort and expense must be expended to try to keep up with modern technology.

There is also a human aspect to digital transformation, which relies heavily on the willingness and ability of consumers, employees, and digital "users. However, not all people are willing to participate in the transformation, and some may lack an understanding of the new technologies and processes. These challenges demonstrate the importance of a holistic approach, with appropriate planning and resources, to ensure a successful digital transformation of society as a whole, leading to a bright digital future.

This year's session will focus on three crises for the "digital future": (1) the crisis of the Internet, (2) the crisis of privacy, and (3) the crisis of data distribution. Following lectures by Japan's leading experts in each of these areas, we will provide a forum for discussion and exchange of perspectives from each field to find a way forward for Japan's digital future.

The moderator will be Yokozawa of the Center for the Promotion of International Economic Cooperation (CFIEC).
