The 40th Leadership Program on Japan (FY2011)
Outline
IIST organized the 40th Leadership Program on Japan for foreign opinion leaders in order to deepen their understanding of the economy and industry of the Kansai region, which supports the Japanese economy. With the cooperation of the Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the program included lectures on the Kansai economy and visits to representative companies in the region and other facilities in Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto.

Overview
By observing the state-of-the-art technology, unique small and medium-sized enterprises, and traditional industries located in the Kansai region, the participants deepened their understanding of the outstanding potential of the Kansai industry, which has adequate competitive edge amid the globalized economy, as well as the rich traditions and culture of the region. It is hoped that the program would contribute to enhance economic and industrial exchange between other countries and the Kansai region and the revitalization of the Kansai economy.
