Overview

In the wake of the amendment of Japan’s Antimonopoly Law in June 2009 and the rush of civil antitrust litigation in the European Union, the seminars placed the emphasis in particular on issues relating to competition law. Focusing mainly on the themes of the World Trade Organization and competition issues, the seminars took up such topics as the urgent problem of the worldwide financial crisis and national trade policies; the trade policy of the United States under the administration of President Barack Obama; and China’s antidumping and subsidy countervailing duty systems, which are extremely important at the working level. The seminars were held on 10 occasions and attracted an aggregate of 364 participants. Details are shown in the above table.
