Symposium on “Case Method of Instruction and Cases” [2008/3/4,13]

Symposium on "Case Method of Instruction and Cases"

Outline

The symposium introduced and shared with participants leading examples where case method instruction was applied in a broad range of educational disciplines. This was to explore potential utilization and application of case method instruction, which has thus far been mainly used to the management education, to a broad range of academic areas.
The role of Case Center Japan (CCJ) in this symposium was to introduce the ideals of CCJ with the recognition that the case method of instruction requires both the ability to lead the discussion as well as availability of good cases.

Organizd by: Keio Business School and Case Center Japan (Institute for International Studies and Training (IIST))
Dates: March 4 (Tuesday) and 13 (Thursday) (Content of symposium same for both days)
Place: Keio University, Mita Campus, Tokyo

Overview

More than 130 people in total came from all over Japan for the two days, participating enthusiastically in the all-day symposiums. For more details, refer to the Case Center Japan report.

On a questionnaire feedback of symposium participants, an average of 95% of respondents answered that the symposium was ‘very beneficial’ and ‘just as expected’. Various presentations on case methods application to varied fields no doubt helped give participants ideas for the future utilization in their educational efforts.
