Research on the International Order and Regional Developments


Outline


The project was carried out by the World Economic Information Services (WEIS), with IIST partially supporting. The Working Group to Study International Order and the Asian Situation was organized to promote the research, which was chaired by Fumiaki Kubo, Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo. Its members were experts on international politics, politics/economy of China/Southeast Asia/the Korean Peninsula, and Asian economy (refer to the research members shown below).

Contents and purpose of the research


As mentioned above, the project was held on the theme of “Research on the International Order and Regional Developments in the Age of Globalization.” Amid the drastic changes in the international order after September 11, the project aimed to collect the latest information on politics, societies, new technologies, etc. in the major countries of East Asia and analyze and survey the international order and regions in the age of globalization, to obtain guiding principles for security policies for Japan in the future.
