Overview

On the first day, the symposium focused on exploring global business strategy for the semiconductor industry. The lectures and panel discussion with speakers from Silicon Valley (U.S.A.), Shanghai (China), and Hsinchu (Taiwan) introduced business models and successful strategies in Asia and around the world. On the second day, the symposium included presentations by the speakers from major Japanese semiconductor companies and related institutions on measures for developing front-line professionals for manufacturing semiconductor or other electronic parts/equipment, and on technologies developed by the semiconductor manufacturers in Kyushu. There was also a site visit to observe advanced technology research and development centers.

This forum was attended by leading figures in the semiconductor field both in Japan and abroad. The audience found the forum very interesting as it covered not only the current situation of semiconductor-related technologies but also issues related to fostering venture capital and creating new industries. Holding such an international forum in Kyushu was very significant for revitalization and advancement of the semiconductor industry in Kyushu as a global brand. Meanwhile, it is expected that specific business matchmaking will subsequently be realized as this forum also aims at strengthening cooperation among the semiconductor-related industry, academia, and government, and facilitating the exchange of important information.
